It has barely been two weeks since the momentous weekend of Easter. He is risen! Indeed, He is risen! Songs and hymns rang out with joy, and uplifting sermons stirred our hearts. But what comes next for us, now that Jesus has not only risen but also ascended?
Though the celebrations have passed, the Christian life does not slow down – it moves forward. In fact, it calls for deeper response. Our faith is never meant to be sustained by spiritual highs alone, but by a continual walk with the Lord. God’s Word reminds us: “Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead…” (2 Tim 2:8). When we partake of Holy Communion, we remember the depth of God’s love displayed through Christ’s sacrifice.
Yet remembrance is not where the journey ends. As Paul writes, “For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes” (1 Cor 11:26). There is a future hope that compels present action.
Easter is not simply an event to revisit – it is a truth that propels us forward. We do not remain at the cross, nor linger at the empty tomb. Instead, we carry its meaning into our daily lives, allowing it to shape how we live, serve, and witness. The resurrection is not just something to celebrate; it is something to live out.
Paul sets the example for us: “Forgetting what lies behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on…” (Phil 3:13–14). After the spiritual high of Easter, we are called to pursue discipline, devotion, and direction. The race continues long after the applause fades.
So let us not settle back into routine unchanged. Instead, let the risen Christ lead us onward – with renewed purpose, steadfast faith, and a readiness to live lives worthy of the gospel.
