Self-centred or Christ-centred Living

A. Live your life fully for Christ alone

For retirees and seniors, the sun is setting and all will stand before the risen Son of God to give an individual account to Christ (Ecc 11:9; 12:14).

Those who chose to live according to their own will and not according to God’s Way will walk on the broad and easy but winding way.

Young Christian adults need God’s wisdom to achieve great things. But when power, position or possession is attained, these become vanity (emptiness or futility) when they become weak and sickly. Many wealthy older men dread dying.

With Christ, life will be more fulfilling as you will experience God’s guidance and gain Christ (Phi 3:8).

B. Die to self – Live for Christ always

The cross of Christ crucifies the egoistic self. Christ crossed out the old self. In Christ, you will not fear any man nor fear being cancelled out in social media. As Christ has died for you, live your new life for Christ alone and always.

#1 Take the Cross of Christ now.

It is good to carry the yoke of God when young (Lam 3:27).

Work hard at personal Bible study to nourish and fortify your heart and mind and so align with God’s will.

#2 Learn (mathete) of Christ every day.

Be a disciple, learner (mathetes) of the perfect Man.

Human philosophers and powerful men will ditch you and fail you one day but Jesus said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”

#3 Manage as faithful stewards the time, talent and treasure that God has entrusted you with. Invest in things that endure through eternity (Matt 6:19-21).

“Only one life, ’twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last” (C.T. Studd 1860-1931).

The Shepherd’s final word:
“The end of the matter (Word); all has been heard. Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecc 12:13).

Amen.
