Relative truth, Absolute truth & Living truth (15 Jul 2018)

The popular postmodern view today is that truth is relative. Christianity, on the other hand, is built on the premise that truth is absolute and that the teachings of the Bible are universal.” https://evidenceandanswers.org/article/truth-absolute-or-relative/ (Editorial Board’s addition).

Relative truth is comforting, convenient truth. Free for all truth. It is whatever you want it to be truth. Relativism is a lie.

Absolute truth is disconcerting, inconvenient truth. It is indiscriminate. It is like a burning fire that obliterates anything that is false. Absolute truth is non-negotiable. Absolute truth is equivalent to the law of sin and death because we cannot fulfil its requirement.

Living truth is redeeming. It is Saving truth. It is restorative. Living truth is transformational. It is everlasting. Living truth has a name.

John 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.”

LIVING TRUTH will disclose himself to us if we love Him.

An interesting example of the contrast between Absolute truth (requirement) and Living truth (satisfaction).

Daniel 3:24,25 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astounded and stood up in haste; he said to his high officials, “Was it not three men we cast bound into the midst of the fire?” They replied to the king, “Certainly, O king.” He said, “Look! I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!
LIVING TRUTH SHOWED UP! As promised in John 14:21!!

Living truth transcends every thing. If you are abiding in living truth, you cannot get burnt.

Imagine the following scenario as depicted by Daniel 3:24,25.
Absolute truth (the fiery furnace) says, “I will burn anything that can be burnt. Anything that is false.” So they threw in Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Living truth shows up and says to Absolute truth, “There’s nothing to burn here. These 3 men are with me.”

The new testament reference for this ‘imagined conversation’ is found in Romans 8:1-4 NASB. Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus (Living truth) has set you free from the law of sin and of death (The requirement of Absolute truth). For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the REQUIREMENT of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

The apostle Paul understood this in principle and in practice. Romans 8:37-39
But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

If you abide in Living Truth, you cannot be destroyed.  See Psalm 91.
