At the Bethesda Chapel Activity Centre (BCAC) Christmas celebration on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, the gospel was powerfully preached. Our guest speaker, Dr. Tan Kok Beng delivered a very simple, succinct, unapologetic, touching, and soul-searching sermon, interpreted by Pastor Ngai. The Holy Spirit was at work in the hearts of the hearers; some 26 elderly in their 70s and 80s raised their hands to reaffirm and profess their faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. Among them were seven new converts. It was a very touching and encouraging moment as we witnessed God’s power at work. He is actively drawing the lost to Himself, and we are excited to be part of His Kingdom’s work.
Christmas is a significant event on the BCAC calendar. Weeks before the celebration, we started to prepare the community through our Discovery Bible Studies by going through various Bible passages in the Gospels and the book of Isaiah relating to the prophecy and birth of Jesus Christ. Needless to say, we have been faithfully proclaiming and demonstrating the gospel throughout the year through our humble service and faithful sharing.
BCAC had a very humble beginning. We started operations on January 10, 2024 with only seven attendees on the third level. Growth was slow but steady. We combed the streets, HDB blocks, and Lorongs to invite the elderly to our meetings. People came, were blessed, and invited their friends. Praise God, 104 attended the recent Christmas celebration. We are confident that when we honour Jesus as Master and Lord of the ministry, allowing Him to direct and guide the work, we will then be effective and bear fruit. Our primary purpose is to do our part to fulfil the Great Commission. In our two years of ministry, 16 elderly have come to know Jesus as Saviour and Lord, to the glory of God!
Each one of us has a part to play in fulfilling God’s Great Commission. It is our prayer that the spirit of the Great Commission will permeate every aspect and facet of church life and ministry.
