Knowing God’s Will

How do we know that the job we take on, the university/ polytechnic course to enrol in or the life partner to marry etc. is the right one and according to God’s will? It may be quite difficult to make such a decision as we may be afraid of ending up with the wrong one. Below are some helpful suggestions:

(i)  Prayer & Reading The Bible
Seeking God through constant prayer and reading His Word is one way that can help us in our decision making. By having a close relationship with Him, our thoughts and desires will be aligned with His through the Holy Spirit in making the correct decision.

(ii) Seeking Godly Counsel
God has also provided us with fellow brothers and sisters-in-Christ for fellowship, encouragement and provision of advice. By sharing with them on our possible choices, they may be able to help us through sharing their thoughts in our decision making.

(iii) Confirmative Circumstances
Through years of fellowship and learning from brothers and sisters-in-Christ, God may provide clear repetitive circumstances or pathways that serve as confirmation for our choice. With each confirmation, our decision to make the right choice becomes more evident.

In conclusion, seeking God’s will in our lives is never easy. May we continue to strive to know Him better so that whatever we do and the choices we make will be pleasing to Him

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
