Blessedness

Blessedness is a state of happiness given by the grace of God. Psalm 1 begins with “Blessed is the man” who abandons wickedness. His delight is in the law (Torah) of the LORD. All who meditate on the Word of God, day and night, will be blessed.

Psalm 2 ends with “Blessed are all who take refuge in YHWH.” Psalm 2 is about the perfect Man. He is YHWH’s Anointed (Messiah), King and Son. He is the exalted Son of Man. God’s righteous wrath will suddenly come upon on all who do not fear Him.

People are warned: 1) serve the LORD with reverential fear. 2) submit to the Son with greatest respect.

Blessed are all who take refuge in the LORD. Blessed is one who trusts in His Son. Jesus says, “I and the Father are One.”

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits,” (Psalm 103:2).

The fear of the LORD (YHWH) is the beginning of wisdom.

This fear is deep respect, reverence, and awe of God’s power and holiness.

Blessed are all who respond to the fear of the LORD by: 1) Pursuing righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 2) Fleeing from youthful passions and sexual immorality. 3) Trusting YHWH in all circumstances. 4) Praying constantly with the Spirit’s help. 5) Hungering daily for the living words of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

Blessed are those: 1) who have died with Christ. 2) whose life is hidden with Christ in God. 3) who will appear with Christ in glory.

“Bless the LORD, O my soul!”
