Bethesda Chapel Community – as children of God

Bethesda Chapel (BC) comprises young children, teenagers, young adults and seniors.

John the Apostle writes to three groups of believers:

•   Children – those who are young in the faith. They are easily deceived by false teachings.
•   Young men – those who are strong in the Word of God and are having victory in the world.
•   Fathers – all mature believers who are growing into Christlikeness.

John affectionately addresses all the above as children (tekna) and little children (teknion). They all have eternal life and are secure in God and in Jesus. The Holy Spirit protects and teaches them.

God’s children are bonded spiritually by the blood of Jesus Christ. Biological bonds are limited to lives on earth. This spiritual blood-bond is for eternity.  And all believers can know that they are God’s children from experience and objective knowledge of God’s works and Word.

You can assure yourself that you are God’s child by affirming these five points:

Believe Jesus is the Christ (1 John 5:1a,5)
Love God and His children (1 John 5:1b)
Obey God’s commandments (1 John 5:2-3)
Overcome the world by our faith (1 John 5:4-5)
Deliberately break from habitual sin (1 John 5:18)

“The blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”

I know that Jesus the Righteous is my advocate, propitiation for sins and my protector.  I can know relationally and assuredly that God has given me eternal life to live for Christ my Lord and my God.

Amen.
