I enjoy being in my Small Group (Chesed). The fellowship and the Bible Study are both encouraging. We are using the Church WWBI materials and have been studying from the book of Hebrews. I found the following lessons useful in my walk with the Lord:
1. Consider Jesus, our High Priest (Heb3:1)
In humility, we should fix our thoughts on Jesus, focusing our minds and hearts on Him. In this way, we will know His purpose and will for us. There will be challenges along the way, but when we come to Him, He can help us and give us peace.
2. Hardening your Hearts (Heb3:8)
“Do not harden your hearts…”. I see this as an important reminder. The Israelites faced consequences for their unbelief; I also need to watch myself against spiritual stubbornness. By the grace of God, I need to be close to Him and be willing to continue to follow Him.
3. Stay away from Unbelief (Heb3:12)
If we are not careful, unbelief can keep us away from God. Pray that we will be firm in our faith and keep ourselves together with fellow believers who are proactive in uplifting one another. By God’s grace, we can remain steadfast in our daily walk with Christ.
4. Past Mistakes (Heb3:16-19)
We can learn much from the Israelites’ rebellion and their unbelief. Past mistakes serve as good lessons. Use these lessons to guide us, and explore a meaningful, faithful walk with the Lord and by His grace, we can prevent any doubt and letting go previous burdens.
5. God’s Rest (Heb3:18)
I always look out for the promises from His Word. I can see spiritual peace when I trust in His promises. I pray that the Lord will help us to have the divine rest by living a life of faith and obedience.
