Amazing Power of God’s Grace

I thank the Lord for the bible study resources available in Bethesda Chapel, especially the WWBI programme. My small group has been studying together the book of Romans using the WWBI curriculum. I wish to share some of many lessons from Romans.

1. Sinfulness of Man (Rom 3 :10-12)
In this world, it is difficult to be good. We have the inclination to sin. We have sinful habits, bad attitudes, hypocrisy, self-righteousness, self-reliance, unbelief, worldliness etc. Hence, in the eyes of God, we are all condemned.

2. The Good News (Rom 1:16-17)
I am inspired by God’s righteousness. God, in His loving kindness, gives us a way, to redeem us through His Son Jesus Christ. We can come to God not by our own actions or good deeds. Instead, it is Jesus coming to us and we place our faith in Him that we are saved. We can come to Him when we repent and believe. All these by the grace of God.

Moreover, His amazing grace empowers me love Him and to love others.

3. God’s grace also empowers us to live a Christ-centred life (Rom 8:9-10)
The Holy Spirit helps us in our walk with the Lord. He guides us to avoid sin and grow in the Lord. He gives us grace-gifts to work together with other members of the church. When we help one another, we are giving honour and glory to God (Rom 15:5-6).

4. Personal Applications
Throughout Romans, Paul reminds me to reflect on my faith and life in Jesus. By God’s grace, I can be “a living and holy sacrifice,” not to be conformed to conduct and customs of this world.

By His amazing and abundant grace I am motivated to continue to learn from Him and know His will for my life (Rom 12:1-2).
