In today’s busy world, it can be easy to see small group fellowship as something optional. Work commitments, family responsibilities, and the pace of daily life can often leave little room for gathering with others. Yet Scripture reminds us that meeting together is an important part of the Christian life.
In Hebrews 10:25, believers are encouraged not to give up meeting together, but to continue encouraging one another. In the book of Acts, we see the early church regularly gathering in homes to pray, study God’s Word, break bread, and support one another in daily life.
So why should we join a small group? Because it is often in these smaller gatherings that spiritual growth happens most naturally. Small groups give us the opportunity to share our burdens, pray for one another, and learn from Scripture together. In these settings, we often find the encouragement we need to keep going when life becomes difficult.
Small groups also help us remain spiritually accountable. At times, we cannot see our own blind spots, and we need trusted fellow believers to lovingly speak truth into our lives when we begin to drift. God often uses the care and wisdom of others to strengthen our walk with Him.
The Christian life was never meant to be lived alone. God created us for fellowship – not only with Himself, but also with one another. Through meaningful relationships within the church family, we are reminded that we do not have to face life’s struggles on our own.
If you have not yet joined a small group, consider taking that step today. Do not allow busyness, hesitation, or routine to keep you from the fellowship God designed for you. Someone may need the encouragement you can bring, and you may discover that the very support you need is waiting for you there.
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11
