Great Commission & Great Omission

1) The Great Commission

•   “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19, ESV)
•   “And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.’” (Mark 16:15, ESV)
•   “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…” (Romans 1:16, ESV)
•   “How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?” (Romans 10:14, ESV)

2) What Evangelism Means to Every Church and Christian

•   Jesus’ divine mandate — not an option.
•   A continuation of Jesus’ mission on earth to save sinners.
•   The core purpose for the existence and growth of the church.
•   Aligns with God’s will that all sinners be saved
•   Gives hope of salvation to the lost.
•   Draws pre-believers and the community into the church for discipleship.
•   Our accountability to God for spreading the gospel.

3) The Great Omission

•   What does ignoring the Great Commission mean to you?
•   Disobedience to God’s key commandments – to love God and our neighbours?
•   Ingratitude toward Jesus, who sacrificed His life to save ours? All He asks is for us to tell others. Is that too much to ask?
•   Selfishness in withholding God’s saving grace from others?
•   A guilty conscience before God and toward those who die without hearing the Gospel?
•   A sin against God?
