The Chinese zodiac has an animal sign assigned to each year in a repeating 12-year cycle of the lunar calendar. Each sign is associated with specific personality traits and characteristics and are often used to predict one’s fortune, compatibility in relationships, and other aspects of life.
Those who allow the Chinese zodiac signs to influence their lives should consider these questions: ‘ 9who made the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the chambers of the south?’ (Job 9:9); ‘ 31can you bind the chains of the Pleiades or loose the cords of Orion? 32Can you lead forth the Mazzaroth in their season, or can you guide the Bear with its children? (Job 38:31,32).
Fact: God is the Maker of them all. Amos 5:8 records, ‘He who made the Pleiades and Orion, and changes deep darkness into morning, Who also darkens day into night, Who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the surface of the earth, The Lord is His name.’
Rather than believing in fate, Christians live by faith. Consider Noah. Hebrews 11:7 reads, ‘7By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen.’ It was not blind faith that led Noah into building the ark. He was building with his eyes focused on God. Noah’s faith in building the ark was grounded on Who He believed.
Living on this side of the cross, we exclaim – ‘. . . And the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me.’ (Gal 2:20).
True faith-living is living by faith in God. Thank God, our faith is rested in the one Who brought the constellations into being – The Lord is His Name.
