Walking With Jesus

I love to sing this old song that I learnt in Sunday School and I know many of you do as well. I have even taught it to my son. The song is “Walking with Jesus”, and the lyrics go like this:

Walking with Jesus, walking every day,
Walking all the way, walking with Jesus,
Walking with Jesus alone
Walking in the sunlight, walking in the shadows
Walking with Jesus alone.

This song tells us that we are to walk with Jesus every day. Yes, we sometimes stumble and fall along the way, but the Lord has promised to forgive and restore us. 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

The song also reminds us that there may be times when we walk in the shadows. These are the times when things get tough, and everything is going wrong and there seems to be no way out. These are the times when even God seems far off. In these times, we can rely on God’s wonderful promise in Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Let us encourage and remind ourselves that our God is never far away and is in fact closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).

So, as we go through our Christian life, whatever the situation is or whatever may come our way, let us sing this wonderful song at the top of our voices to praise God and to remind ourselves of His promises.
