It will be a crime if you have the cure for cancer and selfishly keep it to yourself or if a ship is sinking and you refuse to let anyone else into your lifeboat. Similarly, everyone who has experienced God’s grace has a responsibility to share it. The gospel must not be selfishly hoarded it must be shared.
Why should we trouble people with the gospel, because Jesus is the only way to God. Without Christ people are lost for eternity. ‘How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?’ Rom 10:14. We are God’s feet and mouthpiece to proclaim the good news. Jesus said ‘As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you’ John 20: 21.
There is urgency to share the good news because every day, every hour and every minute men and women are passing into eternity without Christ. Generations have died in darkness. Jesus said ‘Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest’ John 4:35.
Beloved it is harvest season now!! This is the age for sowing and reaping. Our task is not to convert the world, but to present it with the message of Life. Proclamation of the gospel is our responsibility while conversion is the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit.
Let us roll up our sleeves for there’s work to be done. Where do we start? What is our immediate area of responsibility? ‘But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth’ Acts 1:8. We should reach our own Jerusalem at the very least namely our neighbors, colleagues, loved ones and the people around us.
The “crop” is ready to harvest. This is especially evident in many places in our time. It seems that hearts are more prepared than ever to respond to the glorious message of salvation. This has been particularly evident among certain people groups, who, for many long centuries, have been denied or resistant to the gospel. Tribal peoples are coming to Christ in great numbers. China, Africa, and Central Europe are seeing unprecedented response.
Let us work diligently before harvest season is over. Though we do not know when Jesus is coming again but this we most certainly know….it is nearer than ever before. Hence brothers and sisters let us work while it is day for night is coming when no one can work John 9:4.
The more we experience His grace the more we should be compelled to share. Every believer can be a soul-winner. God has equipped us for the task. Evaluate and determine where you are personally in the work of evangelism and ask God to show you how you can be involved.
