Sow the Precious Seed (7 Oct 2018)

Jesus commissions His followers to go out to the world to sow the Precious Seed of the Gospel.

The Gospel is God’s power for salvation. Do we as Christ’s followers believe it? If we do, we trust God and go out daily to our schools and workplaces, and to places that we are not comfortable so as to sow the Gospel Seed.

Everyone who believes the Gospel will be saved. Do you believe that? It is God who saves. He causes the Seed to germinate. We sow with the sweat of our brow and water with tears of prayer. God’s power causes the growth.

What then is the Gospel?

It is the Good News that God loved the world of mankind so much that He gave His only begotten Son so that whoeever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

Jesus of Nazareth died on the cross as a perfect Lamb of God. His precious blood was shed in order to cleanse mankind from all sins. His precious life was given in exchange for a new life in-Christ for everyone who believes.

The Gospel is the good news. There is forgiveness of sins, regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit. Salvation includes the gift of eternal life and no future judgment for sins.

The bad news is that no one can make it on his or her own merits.

God says so in His written word: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God (Romans 3:10-11). Indeed all mankind have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

More bad news. Whoever does not believe stands condemned before God for

  • refusing to believe in the Saviour that God has provided
  • insisting in finding his or her own righteousness based on merits
  • following other ways that do not lead to the true and living God.

In the Gospel, God’s righteousness is revealed. The atheists, the agnostics, the communists, the idol worshippers, the religious people, the humanists try to attain their own righteousness.

The bad news is this: “We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.  – (Isaiah 64:6).  No man’s righteousness can meet God’s standard.

The good news is: “God’s righteousness is through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction (Romans 3:22).

For in the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith.

So whoever wants to be right with God has to believe in God who has given a Saviour to save sinners from God’s judgment for unbelief.

God has this principle written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” This principle applies to all mankind from Adam to Noah, from Noah to Abraham, and Abraham to Moses, from Moses to Jesus of Nazareth. From Jesus of Nazareth till the King of kings returns to reign on earth.

God saves all sinners from eternal death by their faith in God the Saviour. This Saviour is Jesus of Nazareth. All those who believe the gospel of God are reckoned as righteous before God.

So believe in God and believe in Jesus (John 14:1). Begin by faith in Jesus your Saviour. Continue in faith and grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Have faith in God and keep sowing the Precious Seed.   Soli Deo gloria. To God be the glory!
