Sickness and its treatment

Sickness has been with us probably as long as we have existed.

A study done some years back claimed that 95% of people worldwide had some illness or injury in a year.

Yes, we all can fall sick, but our bodies contain living cells that enable us to heal and recover. Of course, often external help may be required to hasten the recovery process. However, time is the other important element for the healing to complete.

Normally, when a person has fallen sick with some physical ailment, there would be some indications where a doctor or physician would be able to diagnose the problem or perhaps a test would reveal with its result.

As for those with mental health issues, detecting its existence is already a huge hurdle, but if it is not properly treated, there might be fatal consequences. A recent news article further highlighted this problem.

But amazingly, no one seems to be talking of spiritual sickness as if it does not exist! Perhaps it is because whoever has this sickness either is most likely unaware of it or adamantly writing it off.

This difficulty is further compounded because there is no earthly or human physician to treat this spiritual disease. Only God and God alone is the healer, physician and cure. And there is no way to get to God except through Jesus Christ.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

The time that we have on this earth is limited and the spiritual sickness within every one of us can only be gotten rid of during this limited time. So let us not tarry but seek Him our Saviour. Then we shall look towards the day when “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)
