The God of creation died on the Cross at Calvary. He was entombed. After three days, there was a great earthquake. An angel came to roll away the heavy round stone that covered the tomb. The Roman guards were petrified with fear. Women disciples saw the empty tomb and were surprised with joy when they saw the risen Jesus!
The Bible teaches a general resurrection at the end of time.
During His ministry, Jesus prophesied the good news of His resurrection. After His resurrection, Christ repeated the good news of His resurrection, “the Christ should suffer these things and enter into His glory.”
What would you do with the good news of Christ’s resurrection?
- Repeat the message. The women disciples of Jesus did that.
- Regard the message as false. At first the apostles had this view. Today, many others have this view.
- Reflect on the importance of resurrection. For a fervent ex-persecutor against Jesus’ disciples, Christ’s resurrection became the crux of his Christian faith (1Cor 15:12-26).
- Remember Christ’s words. Two discouraged disciples walked away to Emmaus. They recalled Christ’s words, when they broke bread (Luke 24:31-35).
Jesus says to all, “…let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me” (Luke 9:23).
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow!
Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
