The word “Mega” is used everyday words from malls, marts, sales to city. “Mega” in English means “very large or huge.” The plain English word is ““great.” The Greek word for “great” is “mega.”
Christ will be returning from heaven to earth to bring righteous and justice. He is The King of kings and Lord of lords (Rev 19:16).
“For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe” (Deut 10:17 ESV).
In the New Testament, the word “great” occurs more than 200 times. Beginning with Matthew, we read, “The wise men from the East saw the star, and they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy” (Mat 2:10 ESV). “The people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned.” (Mat 4:16 ESV)
Our Lord Jesus Christ is our Great God and Savior of the world (Tit 2:13). He is able to save to the uttermost all those who draw near to God through Him. For He always lives to make intercession for them (Heb 7:25). He is our Great High Priest who had passed through to heavens (Heb 4:14).
After Stephen was stoned to death, a great persecution rose against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles (Act 8:1). Devout men who buried him made great lamentation over him. (Act 8:2). Despite the magnitude of their sorrow over the death of Stephen, the Gospel spread among the Gentiles beyond to other regions, and brought great joy to all the brothers (Act 15:3). Rejoice in the great salvation of Jesus. Share your joy of salvation.
Today, Christians in many countries face great persecution. You can find many posts of Christians beheaded and crucified for their faith. It is too gruesome to mention them here. Jesus has said, “Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God (Jn 16:2 ESV). Pray for the missionaries who serve in lands that are considered hard for the Gospel seed. God is a God of impossibilities. He can save all those who seek Him.
The Gospel of Jesus is God’s Word for salvation to all who are fearful of death and in bondage of sin. Instead of fearing men, we are to fear God. Christ has conquered sin of the cross. “Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell (Mat 10:28 ESV). Physical death is a certainty to all. Spiritual death and eternal death are future realities for all unbelievers.
Three things we can do:
- Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray for boldness from the Holy Spirit to speak about Jesus as the Great God and Savior of the world. He can save people from spiritual death and eternal death. He is the Author of Life and the Life-giving Spirit.
- Proclaim Jesus as the Great Light of the world. He has come so that people need not grope in spiritual darkness. Your part is to help lead the spiritually blind to the Great Light of Jesus so that they may not walk in spiritual darkness and stumble.
- Mediate between Great High Priest and the people who do not believe Him. We do this by praying for them, sharing the good news of Jesus and by doing good to fellow men.
The day is coming when all, the Bride of Christ, and all those beheaded for their faith, and friends of the Groom will gather for the great supper of God (Rev 19:17).
