Evangelism – From Fear To Joy

Faith Fights Fear
Fears of inability to answer questions and of unbelievers’ rejection and criticism are my main deterrents to evangelism. With complete faith in Christ, I resolved to fight my fears and not be shackled by them.

Draw Courage And Strength From God
Christ is with me always. He protects, empowers, strengthens, and helps me.
(1 John 4:4, 2 Timothy 1:7, Acts 18:9-10, Deuteronomy 31:8, Ephesians 6:19-20, Hebrews 13:6, Isaiah 41:10, Joshua 1:9, Luke 10:19, Matthew 28:18-20, Psalm 118:6, Romans 8:37)

Right Metal Focus
When I was new and inexperienced, imaginary fears rattled me. Instead of focusing on fear, I turned my mind to the great importance of the gospel to lost sinners. Having been saved myself, how can I unlovingly withhold the gospel from lost sinners heading for hell? (Romans 10:14-15)

I’m mentally prepared to face rejection and criticism. I do not personally feel offended, because unbelievers reject Christ, not me. They are the losers and must face His judgement.

Nobody is expected to know everything and always provide satisfactory answers. I’m not ashamed to admit that I may not always have a good answer when asked a difficult question.  But I promise to look for answers.

Knowledge And Experience
The more knowledge I acquire and the more experience I gain through regular witnessing, the more confident I am.

Joy
It took me a rather long 8 to 9 months to overcome all fears and anxiety in witnessing, partly because I chose to evangelise in Mandarin as well. Mandarin is quite difficult to learn. After that, I experience courage and joy when I share the gospel with others.
