Type II are the self-believers and self-made men. They do not need God because they have received affirmations from fellow men that they have made it by themselves. How can we help such people to stop in their tracks? How can we tell them that there is another Person who is the greater “I AM?” This God made men and women in His image. To deny Him is a great offense. It is to take the glory from Him (Ps 115:1).
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good. (Psa 14:1).
There are many prominent, powerful and proud men in the world. Well-known personalities are wanton in their behaviors and choose to live in places that permit such behaviors. They pay to satisfy their selfish passions with money. They forget that God is watching. His wrath is on them. He is reserving a day of judgment for them. They need to hear the Gospel. Pray for open doors to their hardened hearts.
Many Christians cannot measure up to their standings and prestige. This is true even today. Apostle Paul says, “For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth” (1Cor 1:26).
Among my university classmates, my ex-National service colleagues, some have done exceeding well. They are either in powerful positions or successful in businesses. They are from different religious backgrounds. I have also met several who said, “I believe in myself.” Some can be taxi drivers or in small businesses. What is common is the condition of the heart. Someone has said, “What I cannot see I cannot believe.”
Whether they are rich or poor, powerful or modest, they need God. There appears to be a spiritual emptiness as I interact with them and dine with them.
Only Jesus of Nazareth can satisfy their spiritual emptiness. Only the Holy Spirit can convict them of unbelief. They may have wine, wealth and women, but they are never satisfied. They cannot understand that their souls are thirsty without God.
“How great are your works, O LORD! Your thoughts are very deep!
The stupid man cannot know; the fool cannot understand this:
that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish,
they are doomed to destruction forever” (Psa 92:5-7)
- Pray especially for people around you who only believe in themselves that they will one day realize the folly of not believing that God exists.
– King Solomon realized his folly and wrote Ecclesiastes (see Ecc 2).
- God can use all Christians who bear Christ’s Name to declare that God exists
(Heb 11:6; 1Co 1:27-28).
– Your part in your study or work or social environment is to pray for those around
you and find openings to share the Gospel that Jesus lives and is returning to judge the world.
