Desire to be in God’s presence

Psalm 42:1
“As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God.”

I am sure many of us would have heard and sung the song from Psalm 42. The deer hounded by its enemies was tired,  exhausted and thirsting for water.

Do you feel weary and exhausted from life? Are you under pressure and tired of the problems you face in life?

The psalmist when faced with such a situation, desired to be found in God’s presence.

Similarly, when we are down with pressures in our daily living, be it work, family, service, etc, God is the One we can go to. Jesus is the Living Water. He is Spirit and is everywhere, ever ready to restore a tired and desperate soul.

All it takes for us is to seek God with a heart of obedience, to read His Word and talk to Him in prayer. As we draw near to Him, He is willing to be close and restore our souls. And this is the hope we have in Him.

“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:3-6 ESV)
